WW2 British Malta Camouflage Helmet Attributed To A Devonshire Regiment Officer. Scarce 'rubble' camouflage MkII helmet with F&L maker ( Fisher & Ludlow) to underside of rim & 1939 date. Liner cradle marked BMB for Briggs Motor Bodies with matching date of 1939. Chinstrap has faint name of Lt Cairns who served with the 2nd Devons & is named on a 1941 order of battle as HQ Company, Transport Officer 6 Platoon. The London Gazette lists him as having relinquished his commission on 23rd Feb 1949 with the honorary rank of Captain being granted. Heavy service wear throughout, oxidisation to top nut.
