We took along some of our fothcoming consignments to the Stoneleigh show including a WW1 US Engineer officers trunk of uniforms & kit , WW1 German trench armour , battle damaged German M16 helmet , two British helmets with flashed insignia & a WW1 German tunic...

Auction Highlights

A named WW2 Royal Marines Commando Battledress Dated 1942. Untouched battledress with 'ROYAL MARINES COMMANDO' titles to each arm & embroidered dagger patch . A Marine that has seen much action he has medal ribbons to left breast '39-45 star, Africa Star , Italy Star & France & Germany. Sergeant chevrons to both sleeves. Wounded in action he has one wound stripe to left lower sleeve. Interior lining has recipients name & Number ' PL/X108337 E.ROBBINS' . Clothing label intact with clear date February 1942. A worn battledress stored away until now it has three or four moth small holes visible upon close inspection

WW2 German 50KG Aerial Bomb. Reputedly dropped on Portsmouth in WW2 & kept as a gate guard by a local inhabitant for many years. Totally empty casing , inspection of its hollow interior as per images.

1st Battalion Ox & Bucks , 53rd Welsh Inf.Division Officer Battledress - Landed Normandy June 1944. Officers tailored battledress with Lieutenant rank pips to shoulders & printed formation patches of the 53rd Welsh Inf division to each arm. Has distinctive regimental collar distinction of 'gimp' cord & the rare Oxfordshire & Buckinghamshire buttons to each lapel. Interior has clothing label reading ' Battledress, Blouses ,1940 Pattern Size 9 Ulidia Clothing Co Ltd Belfast'. This combination of insignia indicates the 1st Battalion of the Ox & Bucks Light Infantry who joined the 71st Infantry brigade of the 53rd Division in October 1943 to train for the invasion of Normandy.

Scarce example of the second model trench armour this a slight improvement on the 1916 first model with widened armpits & medial ridge at chest centre to allow better range of movement when firing weapons etc. Armour still bears a good proportion of its chemically blackened finish with the lightly scaled finish of the metal showing only light surface age in places. The slotted strap brackets to the chest plate are intact with its original webbing straps being held in place to the lower plates by the use of heavy staple stitches. The felt pads , intended to reduce noise, are attached by the same webbing straps with double rows of stitching.
